Greetings. Everyone can relax... The murder on the Collinwood Express has been solved! Of course I'm referring to the latest event that we had on June 5th, The Murder Mystery dinner that was held at our temple. It was a combined event with Euclid Assembly # 83 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls and Collinwood Lodge. The murder suspects consisted of 8 players, 4 male and 4 female. The 4 male parts were done by Collinwood brethren and the 4 female parts were done by the young ladies of the Rainbow. I would like to thank everyone who was involved, including RWB John Cochell, Brothers Jason Miskiewicz, Dana Showalter, and Freddy Moses. The rainbow girls were Korry Collins, Kim Appeldorn, Stephanie Lewis and Gina Sapio. Everyone did a fantastic job and I especially want to thank Brother Jack Guritza and his lovely wife Rebecca. They chaired the committee for this event and without their hard work and dedication it would not have been the great success that it turned out to be. Approximately 50 plus Brethren, their Ladies and Guests were in attendance. The murder Mystery was set in 1937 on a train. The meal consisted of authentic food of that time period and was enjoyed by all. The players and guests all dressed in 30s style clothes. It was a fun filled evening for everyone.

I want to remind everyone of the upcoming events for the summer. On July 17th Collinwood will have its Lodge Picnic at Brother Freddy Moses' house at 2:00 PM. A white elephant raffle is planned along with games and entertainment. Please contact Brother Freddy Moses (440) 227-2787 or Myself if you wish to attend. On July 24th we will be attending a Captains Baseball game. We plan to tailgate at the Euclid Temple in the parking lot with hot dogs and hamburgers prior to the game at around 5:00 PM. Please contact Jason Miskiewicz at (440) 315-4876. Tickets are $10.00. I hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer and oh by the way, in case you are interested, one of the rainbow girls did it! She was arrested and put in handcuffs for her evil and crafty murder!

Brethren, Greetings from the East. Our year is off to a flying start. The Installation was well attended and went very smoothly. Our next event was the February 14th Valentine's Day Dinner-Dance; Forty Brethren, their Ladies, and guests attended this event. Good food, singing, dancing, and fun was had by all. I want to give a special thanks to Brother Freddie Moses for providing the karaoke machine, and his lovely wife Dean for the flowers and cookies she donated for the 'best singer of the evening' prize.

Our Next event was Inspection. In the EA Degree, held on February 22nd, the officers and Brethren of Collinwood Lodge can be very proud of the work done that evening. My son-in-law, and now Brother, received an excellent degree. I want to thank the officers of Collinwood for another outstanding job well done! Again, thanks to everyone who has had a part in making this year a success so far.

In March, we plan to visit a Rainbow Girls meeting. In April, we will attend a Burning River Roller Girls Roller Derby game at the CSU Wolstein Center.

November 30, 2009

As we embark on our 111th year, I have been reflecting on the past year. We had a mix of some new activities, some traditional and revisited a not so distant past activity. The officers worked hard to bring home several awards this year, including the Grand Masters' Award. We attended all Lodge inspections within our district and were well represented at our Grand Master's One Day Class as well as Masonic Open House Day.

We performed several Masonic funeral services this past year, but none touched me the same as my Associate Chaplain, Worshipful Brother Jack L. Metcalf did. He was a good friend, Brother and mentor, and I consider myself privileged to have known him.

My only regret from this past year is that I was so busy attending Lodge, DeMolay, Rainbow, Eastern Star, Royal Arch and Scottish Rite activities, that we were unable to publish our Kernels on a monthly basis as our Lodge had done in the past. I hope the officers coming through the line take note of this and will make sure that our Kernels returns to the monthly publication to keep our members well informed about our Lodge activities.

Fraternally,
